BLOG POST #9: PAST CLASSES

Looking at some of the websites from past ENC classes and comparing them to my site, I noticed that there are a few things that I could include to make my site more user friendly and organized. I like the format and theme of my site. I think that I have everything to my liking and it is organized enough for anyone to navigate; however, I looked through Viola I. Young’s website and I realized that there are some things that I can adopt from her website to make mine fit to not only my classmates in ENC but also to expand the audience of my website to the general public. What I like about Viola’s website is that in each section, she includes a brief description of her work and the purpose of that project. I thought that this was very useful because if I were to want someone outside of my ENC class to look at my website, they would have no idea what each project would be about and therefore my work, or rather the purpose of my work, would be rather confusing to them. I really loved this aspect and I am adopting it in my way by including a short and brief description of each project, the topic that I touched upon, and its significance. Another technical thing feature that I liked from Viola’s website is that she has documented everything that was done in the class. She has not only made tabs for the required assignments of this class, but she has also managed to include a tab for her mini presentation, final reflection, and even attendance! I think that the whole concept of creating a website is an important and useful tool to reference to for not only to current ENC students or other students that take this class in the future, but also for myself because this serves as a mini portfolio that documents all my work throughout the course of this class. This is even more significant because the topic I chose to write about holds a lot of meaning to me. Including all the assignments and work I do throughout the course of this class is something that I can later show to prove my progress and achievements throughout my college career. I have already included a tab for everything except for attendance and I would be adopting Viola’s idea to further improve my website.

As for gaining some perspective on my projects, I really focused on Aakiem Philippe’s website. For his project 3, I think he included some unique genres that other people have not done. For his elevator pitch, I really enjoyed how he played a little video snippets of the types of events that the BSU does during his voiceover of him saying his pitch. I thought that this was unique and made us visualize better his project and what he is trying to convey to his audience. He also included an interview as one of his genres for his remediation project which inspired my video of the compilation of interviews that I did on different CARE Ambassadors. I think that these approaches for this project is different and useful.

Overall looking through these websites helped build some ideas to further improve my site and project.
